The Genealogy Junky

An open book displaying numerous photographs and historical icons
"knowing who you are is
knowing who you're made of"

Welcome to The Genealogy Junky, where I share the lived experiences of my own ancestors, as well as those of friends and clients. I enjoy exploring the lives of those who created the histories that fascinate us. Occasionally I'll document my own experience of creating this journal.

You'll find mentions and nods to the inspiration for this ongoing project all throughout these posts and pages; and that would be my late grandmother, Nellie Mae Owings. She was a focused and pioneering career woman, with accolades and achievements, in a time when glass ceilings were just beginning to crack. I'm extremely proud to be furthering her legacy, through blood and blog!

Depending on your viewing platform, you can click the tabs or the drop down menu at the top of the page below the title, to find the Post Menu, the About Page, and other pages of interest.

Below you'll find information about some of the historical events that relate to my own ancestors, or those of other clients.

Below you'll find the memoirs of Nellie Mae Owings, and her siblings, as well as her thoughts on related families, transcribed directly from her personal ancestry journals.
